CMH Travelers To Have Access To Power Outlets, USB Ports

March 03, 2010

Travelers going through Port Columbus International (CMH) will soon be able to use table-mounted power units, giving them access to more than 400 power outlets and USB ports.

The inPower™ flex units, which are made by Arconas, will be mounted to existing airport seating units in the ticketing, baggage-claim and gate areas; they are GFI-protected against short circuits and shield passengers’ electronic equipment from surges.

“Whether it’s a cell phone, PDA, laptop, iPod or gaming system, passengers want to be able to use and recharge their electronic devices that allow them to pass the time as they’re waiting to catch their next flight,” says Robin Holderman, vice president of real estate. “This innovative solution provides a safe, convenient and reliable power source for our travelers.”

The power units will be sponsored by the food and retail concessionaires at the airport and mounted under tabletops beginning in April. They will be free of charge for passengers.
